# Tenant Cred Terms and Conditions Updated: June 6, 2026 Entity: Tenant Cred LLC ("Tenant Cred," "we," "us," or "our") Support contact: [help@tenantcred.com](mailto:help@tenantcred.com) Privacy contact: [privacy@tenantcred.com](mailto:privacy@tenantcred.com) ## What These Terms Cover These Terms govern your access to and use of Tenant Cred's websites, applications, verification tools, credential features, tools for sharing information from your credential, support workflows, and related services. Tenant Cred is a U.S. rental-verification product for renters and tenants. Tenant Cred helps renters create and share renter-authorized credentials that may include verified facts about identity, income signals, employment, account ownership, payment-source status, rental-context information, and other approved verification results. Tenant Cred may support rental verification, credential creation, payment-source verification, sharing information with your chosen recipient, and separately authorized credit or underwriting-support workflows. Tenant Cred does not make a property manager's, leasing agent's, credit partner's, underwriting partner's, or other recipient's final rental, housing, credit, underwriting, or eligibility decision. ## Credential Service; Not A Consumer Reporting Agency Tenant Cred provides user-authorized credential creation, verification, and selective-disclosure tools. Tenant Cred is not a consumer reporting agency and does not furnish consumer reports. Tenant Cred does not sell, resell, furnish, or otherwise provide Consumer Reports or tenant-screening reports to landlords, property managers, leasing agents, housing providers, or other rental-context recipients for tenant-screening, rental-eligibility screening, or rental decisioning purposes. A Tenant Cred credential is a renter-authorized disclosure of verification results derived from information the renter provides, connects, or authorizes, including financial-account-derived data. Tenant Cred is designed to limit disclosure to the credential facts approved for the selected recipient and authorized purpose, rather than exposing raw bank data, full transaction feeds, provider payloads, or unrestricted account access. Any separately authorized Consumer Report workflow is limited to the specific credit, underwriting, regulatory, compliance, or related review purpose presented in that workflow, and is not used to furnish Consumer Reports to rental-context recipients for tenant-screening purposes. Nothing in these Terms limits obligations that apply if a workflow is separately and expressly presented as involving Consumer Report information or is otherwise subject to consumer-reporting law. ## Eligibility And Accounts You must be at least 18 years old and located in the United States to use Tenant Cred. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your account credentials secure, and promptly update information that becomes inaccurate. You may not use another person's identity, financial account, credential, authorization, or disclosure settings for any purposes associated with the use of Tenant Cred products and services. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account, except where the activity is caused by circumstances for which Tenant Cred is responsible under applicable law. ## Renter Consent, Authorization, And Verification Tenant Cred relies on renter authorization before initiating verification workflows or sharing renter-specific information with a recipient or approved partner. By agreeing to these Terms, you consent to Tenant Cred operating the service you request and processing information as needed to provide Tenant Cred products and services, including credential creation, rental verification, payment-source verification, sharing information with your chosen recipient, support, security, fraud prevention, compliance, dispute handling, audit, product servicing, and separately authorized credit or underwriting support. When you request a Tenant Cred credential, rental verification, payment-source verification, sharing information with your chosen recipient, or a separately authorized Consumer Report, credit, or underwriting-support workflow, you authorize Tenant Cred and its approved service providers to collect, process, retain, and share information needed for that requested product or service, subject to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, applicable consent screens, and applicable law. This authorization may include information you provide directly, identity verification information, financial-account-derived information, Plaid-powered verification results, Consumer Report information where separately authorized, recipient or partner context, consent records, disclosure records, access logs, support records, dispute records, revocation records, and deletion records. Agreeing to these Terms does not by itself authorize every possible data pull, Consumer Report request, account connection, report refresh, recipient disclosure, or partner disclosure. When a workflow requires additional notice, product-specific authorization, Consumer Report authorization, Plaid Link consent, Data Transparency Messaging consent, account-selection consent, report refresh consent, recipient disclosure consent, or partner-sharing consent, Tenant Cred will present that notice or authorization at the relevant point in the product flow. If Tenant Cred needs materially different data, a materially different use, a new recipient class, a new partner-sharing context, or a new product purpose after your original authorization, Tenant Cred will request additional authorization where required before using your information for that new purpose. If you cancel, disconnect, revoke access, do not provide required information, or the relevant data is unavailable, Tenant Cred may be unable to create, update, refresh, or share a verified credential or related product output. ## Plaid Verification Plaid Inc. ("Plaid") is a third-party financial data network that helps users connect financial accounts and authorize data sharing. Tenant Cred uses Plaid and may use other approved verification providers to support identity, account, income, payment-source, and financial-account-derived verification workflows. When a Plaid-powered flow is used, Plaid or your financial institution handles the account connection and authentication process. Tenant Cred does not ask you to provide Tenant Cred with your bank username or password. For separately presented workflows that require credit-related underwriting data, Tenant Cred may use Plaid Check Consumer Report products, including CRA Base Report and CRA Income Insights, with tenant or guarantor authorization. These workflows may require a separate Consumer Report authorization before Tenant Cred requests, retrieves, uses, or shares Consumer Report information. Plaid's own privacy materials apply to Plaid's handling of information in Plaid-powered flows. Tenant Cred's Privacy Policy describes Tenant Cred's handling of information it receives or creates. ## Your credential and what you share Shared information is the information from your credential that you choose to share with someone. Your credential and shared information are designed to show approved verification results for a tenant-authorized rental, credential, support, or underwriting purpose. You choose whether to share information from your credential with a recipient or approved partner, except where sharing is otherwise permitted or required by law. When you confirm a share in Tenant Cred, you direct Tenant Cred to make the credential information you selected available to the recipient you selected for the property and purpose shown in the sharing flow. The recipient’s access is limited to the information and access settings you confirmed. Shared information may include verified facts, named verification results, verification badges, threshold outcomes where approved, source freshness, and limited provenance. Sharing this information does not give a recipient unrestricted access to your account, full credential, financial accounts, raw provider records, or future updates. Tenant Cred does not expose raw Plaid payloads, full transaction feeds, account/routing numbers, bank credentials, identity document images, selfie or liveness artifacts, internal verification logic, internal underwriting logic, scoring methods, partner strategy, or security-sensitive operational details in ordinary recipient-facing credential views. ## Recipient And Partner Categories And Use Restrictions Recipients may include landlords, property owners, property managers, leasing agents, brokers, housing providers, authorized leasing staff, and recipient systems or vendors acting on their behalf for the authorized rental-context purpose. Approved partners may include Plaid, identity-verification providers, payment-source verification providers, infrastructure and security vendors, support and compliance vendors, credit or underwriting partners where separately authorized, and legal or regulatory recipients where disclosure is permitted or required by law. Recipients and approved partners may use Tenant Cred disclosures only for the specific authorized rental, verification, support, or underwriting purpose presented in the workflow. Recipients and approved partners may not sell disclosed information, use it for targeted advertising, use it for unrelated cross-selling, use it for unrelated analytics, share it onward without authorization, export it outside approved workflows, train models on it, or use it outside the authorized context. Recipients and approved partners are responsible for complying with laws that apply to their use of Tenant Cred disclosures, including consumer-reporting, adverse-action, fair-lending, fair-housing, privacy, data-security, and anti-discrimination requirements where applicable. Recipients may not use Tenant Cred disclosures to discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, national origin, or any other characteristic protected by applicable fair-housing or anti-discrimination law. Recipients and approved partners must protect Tenant Cred disclosures with reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, limit access to personnel who need access for the authorized purpose, and promptly notify Tenant Cred at [help@tenantcred.com](mailto:help@tenantcred.com) if they suspect unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, misuse, or compromise. Recipients and approved partners may retain Tenant Cred disclosures only as long as needed for the authorized purpose, legal obligations, dispute handling, audit, or contract requirements. When retention is no longer permitted or needed, recipients and approved partners must securely delete or dispose of Tenant Cred disclosures and any copies, exports, screenshots, or derived records, unless law requires retention. ## Credential Use, Rental Decisions, And Adverse Action Tenant Cred does not make, recommend, score, rank, approve, deny, or otherwise decide any rental, housing, credit, underwriting, or eligibility outcome. Recipients decide whether to accept a credential, proceed with an application, request more information, approve, deny, impose conditions, require a co-signer, charge a deposit, or take any other action. Recipients agree that they are responsible for their own use of Tenant Cred disclosures and for all notices, explanations, adverse-action notices, source information, rights summaries, copies, dispute instructions, and other communications required by applicable law when they make a decision based in whole or in part on a Tenant Cred credential, Tenant Cred disclosure, any consumer report they obtain from another provider, or related information. Tenant Cred may provide operational support, source information, report-copy routes, dispute routes, or correction support where required or appropriate, but Tenant Cred does not make the recipient's decision and does not communicate the recipient's decision unless Tenant Cred expressly agrees to do so in a separate authorized workflow. Where a separately authorized credit, underwriting, regulatory, compliance, or related review workflow is subject to consumer-reporting law, Tenant Cred obtains purpose-specific authorization, records the authorization, limits use to the authorized purpose, and supports report or file access, dispute, correction, source, and rights-information routes where required. These Terms do not replace any legally required authorization, rights summary, adverse-action notice, or notice provided by a landlord, property manager, financial institution, credit partner, underwriting partner, Consumer Reporting Agency, or other recipient. ## Ownership And License Tenant Cred owns the service, software, interfaces, credential formats, verification badges, workflows, verification logic, text, designs, marks, templates, trade secrets, documentation, and other intellectual property made available through Tenant Cred, except for information that you provide or authorize us to receive. Subject to these Terms, Tenant Cred grants you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to access and use Tenant Cred only for the intended credential, verification, disclosure, support, and recipient-review purposes presented in the applicable Tenant Cred feature, workflow, or service. You may not copy, frame, scrape, reproduce, resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, decompile, bypass access controls for, or create derivative works from Tenant Cred, Tenant Cred credential formats, verification badges, verification logic, recipient views, product outputs, or related materials, except where applicable law prohibits this restriction. ## User Content And Operational License You retain rights you have in information you submit, connect, authorize, or make available to Tenant Cred. You are responsible for having the rights, authority, and authorization needed to provide or connect that information. You grant Tenant Cred a limited license to collect, use, process, retain, reproduce, display, transmit, and disclose that information as needed to operate, secure, verify, support, audit, improve, and comply with legal obligations for the Tenant Cred product or service you request, subject to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, applicable consent screens, and applicable law. This license does not permit Tenant Cred to sell Plaid-derived consumer financial data, use covered data for targeted advertising, or disclose raw bank data to ordinary recipients outside the authorized credential or approved workflow. ## Restrictions, Suspension, And Termination You may not misuse Tenant Cred, misrepresent a credential, alter or remove provenance or verification indicators, submit false information, impersonate another person, connect accounts you do not own or control, use another person's authorization, train models on Tenant Cred outputs, resell disclosures, or use Tenant Cred outputs outside the authorized purpose. Tenant Cred may suspend, limit, revoke, or terminate access to Tenant Cred products, credentials, recipient views, partner workflows, or support routes if Tenant Cred reasonably believes access presents fraud, misuse, security, unauthorized-access, legal, compliance, recipient-misuse, or product-integrity risk. Suspension or termination does not require Tenant Cred to delete records it must retain or may retain for legal, fraud-prevention, dispute, audit, security, product-servicing, contractual, or historical disclosure-record purposes. ## Indemnity To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Tenant Cred and its officers, directors, employees, contractors, affiliates, service providers, and agents harmless from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, penalties, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your misuse of Tenant Cred, false or unauthorized information, unlawful decisioning, unauthorized disclosure, violation of these Terms, violation of another person's rights, or violation of applicable law. Recipients and approved partners agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Tenant Cred harmless from claims arising from their use, retention, disclosure, onward sharing, decisioning, adverse-action handling, failure to provide required notices, or other handling of Tenant Cred disclosures outside the authorized purpose or in violation of applicable law. ## Revocation, Deletion, Retention, And Expiration You may request to revoke future Plaid access, future provider access, or future disclosure access by using available in-product controls or contacting help@tenantcred.com. Revocation generally stops future collection, future refresh, or future recipient access where permitted. Revocation does not automatically delete records Tenant Cred must retain or may retain for legal, fraud-prevention, dispute, audit, security, product-servicing, contractual, or historical disclosure-record purposes. Tenant Cred may retain consent records, revocation records, disclosure manifests, access logs, saved disclosure snapshots, support records, dispute records, deletion records, and security records where needed to show what was authorized, what was shared, and what actions were taken. ## Corrections, Disputes, And Support If you believe information in a Tenant Cred credential, disclosure, separately authorized Consumer Report workflow, or related support record is inaccurate, incomplete, stale, mismatched, unauthorized, or improperly shared, contact help@tenantcred.com. Tenant Cred may need to verify your identity before disclosing information, processing a request, correcting information, suppressing information, or responding to a dispute. Dispute requests should include your name, contact information, the item you dispute, why you believe it is inaccurate or incomplete, any supporting information, and the date of the report, disclosure, or adverse decision if known. Tenant Cred may reject requests that are fraudulent, unverifiable, legally barred, duplicative, abusive, or outside Tenant Cred's control, but it will provide support routes required by applicable law. ## Prohibited Uses You may not use Tenant Cred to submit false information, impersonate another person, connect accounts you do not own or control, evade consent requirements, interfere with security controls, access another user's information, scrape or reverse engineer the service, test the service without authorization, or use disclosed information outside the authorized purpose. You may not use Tenant Cred to make, facilitate, or disguise unlawful, discriminatory, deceptive, unfair, abusive, or unauthorized rental, credit, employment, insurance, eligibility, or housing decisions. ## Service Changes And Availability Tenant Cred may add, remove, suspend, limit, or change features, verification providers, data scopes, credential components, recipient workflows, partner workflows, support workflows, or policies. Tenant Cred will provide notice or request new authorization where required by law or where a material new data use, data category, recipient class, or product purpose requires it. Tenant Cred does not guarantee that every financial institution, account, data field, verification provider, credential feature, recipient integration, or underwriting-support workflow will be available at all times. ## Disclaimers Tenant Cred provides verification and credential tools, but it does not guarantee that a recipient will accept a credential, approve a rental application, approve a credit product, waive a requirement, or take any particular action. Tenant Cred does not provide legal, tax, financial, housing, credit, or underwriting advice to renters or recipients through these Terms. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, or error-free operation. ## Limitation Of Liability To the extent permitted by law, Tenant Cred will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost goodwill, lost data, or business interruption. To the extent permitted by law, Tenant Cred's total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms, Tenant Cred products, Tenant Cred credentials, recipient views, disclosures, or related services will not exceed the greater of the amount paid to Tenant Cred for the product or service giving rise to the claim in the 12 months before the claim arose or $100. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law. ## Changes To These Terms Tenant Cred may update these Terms from time to time. If Tenant Cred makes material changes, it will update the date above and provide notice as required by law or appropriate for the change. Continued use of Tenant Cred after updated Terms become effective means you accept the updated Terms, except where additional consent is required. ## Governing Law And Venue These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless applicable law requires another state's law to apply. To the extent permitted by law, the exclusive venue for disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or Tenant Cred products will be the state or federal courts located in Texas. This venue provision does not apply where applicable consumer law requires another forum. ## Contact Questions about these Terms, account support, Consumer Report support, corrections, disputes, deletion requests, or revocation requests may be sent to help@tenantcred.com. Privacy questions may be sent to privacy@tenantcred.com.
